Spring is here (again) and is hopefully sticking around the North Carolina coast permanently this time around. A little over a week ago Topsail Island had been experiencing beautiful 70 degree weather everyday, all the foliage was budding out, the grass was turning green, and we were starting our summer suntans. Then we had a wicked cold spell move in for Easter weekend, getting below freezing for 4 or 5 nights in a row and sending everyone back into their closets for sweaters and sweatshirts.

Captain Scott Erickson's Fishing Adventures for 2007 around the Surf City, Topsail Beach, Sneads Ferry areas. Catches of King Mackerel, Grouper, Dolphin (Mahi Mahi), Flounder, Trout, Red Drum, and more. Come on down and catch some for yourself. The fishing's great.

Gagilicious Day off of Topsail Island

Below is one of my local fishing report videos that shows just how great the fishing can be off of Topsail Island. Grouper can be caught offshore within sight of the beach, Amberjack too. The flounder were gigged at night in the intracoastal waterways behind Surf City and Topsail Beach. Come on down to the beach and catch yourself a mess of fish for a fresh seafood dinner of your own.

Note the Loggerhead Turtle that took a bait. It was caught unintentionally but I managed to remove the jig from it's mouth and release it unharmed.

Our reservations team took a step into yesteryear this morning. Although the temperatures were cold the welcome was warm at Poplar Grove Plantation, just south of Topsail on Hwy 17. We went today because of the great farmer’s market that is held there every Wednesday April-December. The local growers and artisans had so much to offer. Some of us came away with homemade goats milk hand lotion, local grown fruits and vegetables, and even some roasted peanuts.
