Hopefully you have already started the process of preparing your vacation rental for next season, and now you are thinking about sprucing things up with a thorough spring cleaning.
Deep cleaning paired with preventative maintenance helps set your vacation rental above the rest and gives your guests a lasting good impression of their stay. Whether you decide to do it yourself or employ the services of your housekeeping staff, a little extra elbow grease goes a long way.

1. Hair on the floors or in drains
2. Mildew on shower curtains
3. Rust stains in toilets

5. Dirty grill

General Cleaning Tasks
- Spot clean light fixtures, door knobs, walls
- Dust decor (wash or wipe down where necessary) including knicknacks, picture frames, wall art, etc.
- Dust ceiling fans
- Dust baseboards
- Steam clean carpets and floors
- Check and replace batteries in smoke and carbon monoxide detectors
- Check fire extinguisher
- Check and replace air filters
- Vacuum vents
- Vacuum behind furniture
- Vacuum dryer lint trap, clean inside of washing machine
- Wash the windows, window dressings, blinds, curtains
- Check the iron, clean if needed
- Check light bulbs, replace if needed
Kitchen
- Deep clean oven, wipe stovetop
- Clean and deodorize dishwasher
- Clean coffee maker with vinegar and water
- Clean out and wipe down refrigerator and freezer
- Clean out pantry items, check inventory, restock
- Vacuum refrigerator condenser coils
- Clean and deodorize the drains
- Wash inside of garbage can, replace if needed
- Wipe down all appliances
- Replace sponges and necessary cleaning supplies if provided
Bathrooms
- Check towels and washcloths, replace if worn
- Wash or wipe down shower curtains
- Check shower curtain liner, replace if needed
- Wash bathroom rugs
- Vacuum and dust cabinets, under sink, in drawers
- Wipe/fill liquid soap container and/or soap dish
- Check and replace toilet brush if needed
- Clean grout and tile
- Clean shower doors
Bedrooms
- Inspect all bedding including pillows, linens, comforters, mattress pads and replace if needed
- Wash all bedding and linens
- Flip and rotate mattresses
- Vacuum under beds and behind furniture
- Wipe down walls and baseboards
Living Space
- Steam clean upholstered furniture
- Wash pillows
- Wash area rugs, replace if worn
Outdoor Space
- Power-wash exterior areas
- Clean and inspect outdoor furniture
- Clean doormats, replace if needed
- Clean grill
- Plant flowers, trim shrubbery
- Check deck for cosmetic flaws, exposed nails, rotting wood
